Report on the Potential of the National Forestry Sector to Mitigate Climate Change.

Nextera’s Lead Consultant, Allan Herrera was contracted to prepare the national report on the capacity of the forest sector in Belize to participate under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Climate Change. Using a seven step methodology, areas with the most potential to participate under the financing mechanism were identified and presented to the regional body. These areas included marginal and abandoned agricultural land, deforested areas and non-productive unimproved pasture land.
